An excellent performance from the 1's as the 5's go top!

League Saturday 11 saw the 1's win their second match in a row and move them 21 points above the relegation zone. In doing so, the 1's completed a season's double over our old friends and historic local rivals Teddington. Sadly the 2's could not do the same, losing at home to Teddington, whilst the 3's could only manage a losing draw at North London. There was also a defeat for the 4's against MTSSC but the 5's beat Harrow 3's to go to the top of Tier 3 Division 3.

Under cloudy skies, and against reputedly the best seam attack in the Premier League, the 1's were inserted in Bushy Park but recovered from the early loss of Greg King through an excellent 98 run partnership by Vansh Jani and Tanmay Thanawalla. When Vansh departed for 61 (which takes his tally of Premier League runs for the season to 658 from 10 innings), Tanmay and Charlie Nelson added 84 for the 3rd wicket. Tanmay fell for 59 but Charlie and skipper Adam London put on 24 before the 18 year old Nelson was run out for 60. From there, Richmond did not press on as much as we might have liked. 206 for 3 became 219 for 7 but Nathan Parkin's 17 saw us through to a declaration at halfway on 244 for 8.

We knew that Teddington's batting was weak but both Ishaan Kashaul and Eric Botha bowled beautifully to grab the match by the scruff of the neck reducing our hosts to 26 for 4 at tea. For a while, it looked as though the home side were staging a recovery but Eric completed an excellent 5 wicket haul by taking two in an over to leave Teddington reeling at 51 for 6. From there, it was a question of bowling them out and the two spinners, James Nelson and Craig Baldry did not disappoint. Both bowled very well against some stubborn resistance and both ended with two wickets each. Mention as well to Tanmay for 4 dismissals including one very sharp stumping. Teddington were dismissed for 98 with 12 overs remaining and 12 points were secured. The win keeps the 1's in 6th place but they have closed the gap on the leading pack and widened the gap to 9th placed Finchley.

At Old Deer Park, the 2's were also inserted. Chris Laws played well for 58 and with Tom Spearman seemed to have set us up for a decent total. However, from there, players came in but got out too soon and our final total of 177 was always going to put us under pressure. Teddington's reply was led mainly by Sam Greenland, one of 2 Australians at the Bushy Park club this summer. Since being dropped from the 1's his form has been excellent and so it proved again as he fell one run short of a 3rd 2nd XI League century in 4 matches. However he done the job for his side who won comfortably. The 2's drop to 5th, 18 points off top spot and 26 points above relegation.

Despite a losing draw the 3's remain top of the Third Tier's Premier League. North London scored 284 off 49.1 overs and we only managed 191 for 7 off 42, more than 50 runs off the winning draw.

The 4's lost by 59 runs against MTSSC who scored 208 all out. Ethan Human was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 48. Arun Veluswamy led our reply with 42 but overall we batted poorly and were dismissed for 149. The 4's remain in 6th place 32 points off top spot and just 11 above the relegation zone.

The 5's went to the top of their division with an excellent 28 run win over Harrow 3's. Sadiq Ali was our highest scorer with 57 out of our total of 184 before the Ur-Rahmans shared all 10 Harrow wickets between them - Aziz taking 6 for 49 and Tanzeel 4 for 35.

On Sunday our Womens 1st XI lost away to Guildford by 14 runs in the Surrey Elite T20 and are in 2nd place,7 points behind Reigate Priory who they play next Sunday in a winner takes all fixture at Old Deer Park.
