At the end of last year the coaches decided for the year ahead we would like to start our own tradition of any boy representing the age group in more than 3 matches to receive a cap before the game infront of his teammates and parents - and that we would request all boys to wear their caps rather than any other headwear during the games as a symbol of unity and team spirit.
Over the winter many of you would have read of the untimely death of Philip Hughes - an Australian test batsman who during his career also played for Middlesex. He was known throughout the game as an invidiual who loved the game, loved playing alongside his teammates, loved to play hard cricket, but always played with a smile - something as coaches we would like all our kids to aspire to.
As way of a tribute to the man who proudly wore the baggy green of Australia we commissioned the 'Richmond Baggy Maroon'
On Wednesday 22nd April Richmond's 1st X1 Captain Alex Griffiths (and previously a Richmond Colt) and Richmond's own 'Aussie star' Andrew Lowe have kindly agreed to present to those children who played in more than 3 matches last year with their caps for the season ahead. The evening will start at 7.00pm and we have asked Alex and Andrew to say a few words before presenting each cap - and then a short Q&A session before heading off - all parents/grandparents welcome of course - a great photo opportunity
