2012 sees the Middlesex Cricket Board launch a Development League to 8 pilot clubs. Richmond is one of these clubs. The competition aims to assist with bridging the gap between age group cricket and adult sides, providing an additional platform for, primarily, young players to express their abilities in a longer format of the game.
Games will be played in June and July, with a Finals Day in August, taking place at the newly refurbished, Radlett CC - the home of Middlesex CCC's 2nd XI. Sides will wear coloured kit, using the orange ball, and be made up of seven Under 21 players, plus four non-age restricted players.
After 5 games, all of which amazingly have been played, the Academy XI tops its division and has qualified for the next stages of the competition.
